Repeat Course/Grade Replacement Information

 

REPEAT COURSE / GRADE REPLACEMENT APPLICATION INFORMATION

 APPLIES ONLY TO CLASSES TAKEN THROUGH CECFC

Grade replacement allows a student to repeat a course and remove the weight of the earlier grade from their cumulative grade point average (GPA).

Please review the following grade replacement information for details.

  • Grade Replacement applications will not be accepted until you are currently taking the course being repeated.
  • Grade Replacement applications must be submitted prior to the last day of the course being repeated. LATE submissions will NOT be accepted.
  • A course may be repeated for grade replacement ONLY ONCE. Additional attempts will NOT be considered for grade replacement.
  • Course credits are counted only one time towards graduation requirements.
  • You may apply for a grade replacement for a maximum of three separate courses.
  • The repeated course must be the exact course name, prefix, and number of the original course and with the same institution. 
  • Pass/Fail grades are excluded from grade replacement.
  • A course in which an academic integrity violation has been officially reported may not be repeated for grade replacement.
  • Courses may be repeated for grade replacement only in those cases in which a student received a grade of B-F on the first attempt. Any withdrawals (W) made prior to the grade of B-F will not count as an attempt.
  • If the second grade earned is a W, the W will count as the second attempt and, because it has no grade value, the previous grade (B-F) will continue to factor into the calculation of the GPA.
  • All grades received will be shown on the student’s transcript; however, the GPA will be re-calculated after the repeat grade is posted, based off of the highest grade received.
  • The grade of the original course will not be removed from the GPA calculation until after the new grade has been posted at the end of the semester.
  • Applications must be submitted online to be considered for grade replacement.
  • Students will be notified via the email submitted on the application.
