Colorado Early Colleges Fort Collins Ranks Among the Top 25% of All Colorado Public Schools

Colorado Early Colleges Fort Collins (CECFC) is one of only eight schools across Colorado to earn a “Performance with Distinction” rating by the board of the Colorado Charter School Institute (CSI). Based on its 2018-2019 performance, CECFC is performing better than 86% of schools in Colorado.

“We are working hard to empower our students to see success through academic achievement, growth, and postsecondary and workforce readiness,” said Josh See, head of school for CECFC. “This recognition reinforces that our early college model works and that we are helping students get the education, real-world experience and college degrees to support them in their chosen career path. We are proud and honored to bring this model to the students and families in northern Colorado.”

CARS report data highlights for CECFC include:

● student achievement: CECFC meet or exceed state expectations in CMAS English language arts, CMAS math, and CMAS science. The school’s PSAT and SAT results placed us in the top 20% of schools in the state.

● student growth: CECFC’S growth results largely meet or exceed state expectations and mirror Poudre School District.

● postsecondary and workforce readiness: CECFC outperforms Poudre School District in graduating students. 96% of CECFC students graduate within six years compared to 88% of students in Poudre. More than 70% graduate with an associate or post-secondary certification.

● financial/organizational performance: CECFC exhibits strong financial and operational performance.

CSI—which authorizes CECFC—assigns a rating and accredits CECFC each fall based on its academic, financial, and organizational performance from the 2018-2019 school year. CSI’s “Performance with Distinction” rating is based on students’ performance on state tests in English language arts, math, and science. PSAT and SAT scores, dropout rates, matriculation rates, and graduation rates are also used to determine the “Performance with Distinction” rating for schools serving grades 9-12. CSI Annual Review of schools (CARS) goes further than the state performance framework because it adds a “Performance with Distinction” rating beyond the state’s top rating of “Performance”.

CECFC has received the CSI honor of “Performance with Distinction” in all years except in 2015-2016 where CECFC earned the highest CDE honor of Performance.
